Additional former Safeway is the building at 16730 Arrow Blvd, at the NE corner of Arrow & Juniper. It dates back to ~ the early fifties. The basement was once a designated CD bomb shelter for the city.

Re: All-American Superama Chain-San Diego Area-1959
Not sure if they were the same company, but the All American supers in OC all became Albertsons upon purchase by same. San Clemente had one on N. El Camino Real between W. Mariposa and W. Marquita.

Re: The Market Basket Chain-San Diego Area-1959
Market Basket was Kroger's So Cal presence. They were sold to Ralphs back in the early eighties IIRC, only to have Ralphs become part of the Kroger family some years later. The former Market Basket in San Clemente (the only place I was able to find fresh scrapple back in the sixties and seventies) i...

Re: Van de Kamp's Restaurant Sites
Apparently Millie's bought up some Alphy's stores in 1982. I don't know if the Fontana store was one of those.

Is that slump stone masonry? If so, that came into popular use back in the late sixties.

I distinctly remember one on East Chapman in Orange, although I can't be sure if it was still in operation in 1978. It certainly was in 1975.

Re: Tastee-Freez
The (former) Tastee Freeze in what's now the K-Mart plaza at 550 Camino de Estrella in San Clemente was a bank the last time I saw it. This former TF was an early tenant in this center, which was built around 1972. Oddly enough in that center, the former BofA site in the SW corner is now a Kragen. S...
