Former Lucky Stores in Alhambra, Montebello, San Gabriel are still looking like Lucky Stores inside. There are hardly any that were remodeled.

Failed concept. They turned most the stores into Vons, but kept the ethnicity in the store (think of a Food for Less looking store with Tortillarias and a butcher in the carneceria, even though it was not any different than a regular butcher shop). Some closed permanently, like Montebello's Tianguis...

The Vons Expo only lasted about a year or two. I think it opened in the mid 90's in the Former Gemco, and then closed by 1995. It became a Pic N Save (pre-big lots) and closed as well immediately. The building was torn down a few years back, and has been an empty lot since.

Both around here that I can remember were turned into bakers square restaurants. One closed last year in Alhambra and is being remodeled into shops, the other in montebello is still open, but has no remnants of the original building. The Alhambra store (on Valley near Almansor) was a Godfather's Pi...

there was a former Super S Store in Arcadia that is still there.

It was turned into a Vons store in 86, and Sav-On Drugs moved into the Pharmacy half.

In 89 or so, Vons closed this store when they opened a Pavillions across the street. Sav-on took over the entire store and still has it open today.

Pavillions also closed a lot of stores. One I couldnt beleive was one they opened in the late 80's in Baldwin Park. I was later turned into a Vons, then closed. It lasted at the most 10 years. All the Giant locations are Food 4 Less stores nowadays. The Giant stores were so big that most added shops...

Ralphs experimented with their GIANT stores back in the late 80's. They opened around 87' in former Zody's department stores for the most part. They lasted only a few years and then were gutted to create Food 4 Less, and most stores were subdivided.
