Any one remember the glass 2 liter bottles during the early 80's? they were such a pain stocking them and sorting them.

It was originally an Alpha Beta store when it opened around 1976.

The Fred Meyer store was built at West Bethany Home Road and North 35th Avenue on the Northeast corner. An older Smitty's store was to the east of it. The store was completed and never opened. Eventually it was demolished and a Walmart Supercenter was constructed in it's place.

It's a miracle it stayed open as long as it did. The city of Phoenix bought up alot of the houses over the years eroding the customer base in the general area.
