Re: Modern Kroger designs in Marietta
Your first link is the Kroger closest to my house, small world. I haven't been inside the Kroger at Roswell Rd and Coleman (border of cobb/roswell) for a while, but pass it most days on the way to work. It did have the corrugated and art deco fonts and so did the one in Roswell off of Mansell and Hw...

Re: Modern Kroger designs in Marietta
I'm not sure about the wedges and I too had to look it up. I've only lived in Marietta since 07 and had both my normal Krogers go through some fairly major renos in the last couple years. The Parkaire Kroger off Lower Roswell Rd and Johnson Ferry went from a Superstore 2 with tower to the newer trip...

Re: Toys-R-Us
I ran across this location in North Charleston back in March of 2011. It looks to have a similar version of the late 80's color arrangement of the letters Storeliker2006 mentions. I was bummed when I saw the paneling painted out white. At least the blue is a little more interesting and less bland. h...

Re: Who Remembers "Barney's Cafe" (Kroger) & What's The Hist
I was involved in the remodeling of an 1986 greenhouse Kroger in Vicksburg, MS that had a "Barney's New York Cafe" off the deli with a separate entrance to the left of the greenhouse. I've got some pics looking through the windows before the place was demo'd. Looks like it was still the or...

Re: A&P Centennials in Atlanta
I just ran across what looks to be another Centennial A&P in my own backyard at 1440 Roswell Road in Marietta. Its now Sidelines Sports Bar . I've lived maybe 2 miles away for almost three years now and never noticed it before because of how oddly it sits on a site between roswell road and power...

Re: Long John Silver's freestanding stores
In Albany, GA I recently remember seeing what appeared to be 2 stand alone LJS on the same block separated by an old Sonic that is now a used car lot. On N. Slappey Blvd near 11th Avenue there is a Subway in what looks to be a former late 70's style LJS like the one near the Big Chicken in Marietta,...

Re: Albany, GA - Southgate Plaza
No worries in the delay. I'm just happy my curiosity has been calmed. I just figured you seem to know a ton about the area, or know where to look for info at least. That whole area of Slappey Blvd was a trip back in time with all of the old restaurant and retail prototypes. Off the top of my head I ...

Re: Does this Albertsons/Kroger have a copper roof?
My guess is no, its not copper. It's so monolithic in color that its probably prefinished aluminum standing seam roof in a terra cotta / copper color. If it was actual copper there would be some sort of variation in color from aging and areas exposed to more water and it would most likely be a darke...

Re: A&P Centennials in Atlanta
The only one I've knowingly run across is located behind the AutoZone at 1262 Columbia Drive Decatur, GA. Street view link at the bottom of the page. This is the one I was talking about in the truss roof thread. We were doing fire remediation work down the strip a bit, but the owner of the center ha...

Re: Did Centennial A&Ps Have Roof Truss?
Sorry I worded that wrong. I should've said I don't know if ANY of the centennial A&P's used truss roofing. I honestly don't know. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Did Centennial A&Ps Have Roof Truss?
I'm not sure if all of the centennial A&P's used truss roofing, but I do know of at least one on the east side of Atlanta that did not. It was a combo of conventional stick built and steel from what I remember looking through the ceiling of a space we worked on a couple years ago. On a side note...

Re: Mervyns
Sorry I should've looked at RXSQ's link before I responded. I saw it soon after on those pages. Not to go too far off topic from Mervyn's I just knew that sometimes the Treasury only did the squiggly roof out at the canopy area out front or until the first column line inside and others they did the ...

Re: Mervyns
The Riverside, CA store across from the Galleria at Tyler mall is now a Kohl's. It opened in September 2010. The building originally opened in 1972 as The Treasury. Mervyn's and Target took over the building in 1983, with Mervyn's closing in early 2009. Target still occupies its portion of the 185,...

Re: Sentry Foods in Wisconsin
Growing up in Racine, WI in the 80's I remember Sentry. The closest one to my house was at 3502 Douglas Avenue and I remember it looking similar to the Appleton store, but with dark stained wood shakes on the top trapezoid shape and interior before a sweeping remodel done in the late 80's / early 90...

Albany, GA - Southgate Plaza
Anybody have some info on what grocer may have been located at 303 S. Slappey Blvd in Albany, GA? EdricFloyd, you seem to know a ton about the area, maybe you can shed some light? I was measuring a vacant space for a client and the interior screamed it was an old grocery store. Terrazzo floor in muc...
