Yes, there was one in Culver City near a shopping center called "Studio Village". It was where Sepulveda Blvd/Sawtelle Blvd/Jefferson Blvd all converge. Looked like a earlier version of Target/Fed-Mart/Fedco and so on.....

Fox Market was the first supermarket I remember circa the late 50's. Other than a couple of mom and pop stores, I never saw another supermarket until Alpha Beta ~1962 or 3, then Thriftimart in 1964 around my neighborhood. For whatever reason, the several stores Fox had in Long Beach were called Iowa...

Torrance - corner of PCH and Anza Ave

I think it opened in either 85 or 86.
It was their only location in Southern California that had a tasting room. Boy, did I spend a lot of time there.....

Food Fair expands west

The giant east coast grocery chain "Food Fair" itching to break into the west coast announces they are acquiring the local southern California chain "Fox Market". Fox probably expanded too fast and was in financial straits by early 1961. Food Fair kept the Fox name for a couple of years in their ads...
