Re: Anyone in DC/MD/VA area remember S. Klein's?
Thanks, Rich. Actually, I believe there may have only been two S. Klein stores in the D.C. area -- Alexandria, VA and Greenbelt, MD.

Downtown D.C.'s long-gone department stores
The following were thriving department stores based in Washington, D.C. Each of them went bankrupt and closed: Lansburgh’s (1973), Kann’s (1975), Garfinckel’s (1990), and Woodward & Lothrop (1995). All four stores were located in downtown D.C.’s shopping district – Lansburgh’s and Kann’s along t...

There were two other Maryland locations -- one on Annapolis Road (Rte. 450) in Landover Hills and one in Suitland. When I move...

Grand Union at Prince George's Plaza
Grand Union was original to Prince George’s Plaza when it opened in 1959; it was at the west end, in front of where Woodward & Lothrop (now J.C. Penney) would open a few years later. It remained at the Plaza until the early to mid 1970s. I don't know if the store itself was demolished or simply ...

Anyone in DC/MD/VA area remember S. Klein's?
Does anyone from the DC Metropolitan area remember a store called S. Klein's? It was a (junior) department store, and the location I remember was at Beltway Plaza -- located on the end where Burlington, Marshall's and Target are currently located. Does anyone know the history of S. Klein's, especial...
