Re:

The second store did become a Vons for a very short while. My recollection is that it closed in the early 90's, when the new Albertsons, and Food 4 Less opened down off Highland Springs and the 10. And the Safeway / Vons was where the Autozone and Goodwill store is. You can see the arched roof (alm...

Laguna Hills is now LA Fitness. West Covina Eastland (vacant Mervyns, Circuit City, and Levitz spaces) is being renovated for the inclusion of at least 4 new retailers/restaurants. luckysaver The Eastland site still is in quite chaos! Seems like a lot of movement...yet no progress! Checked the city...

Noticed that the side (at least the north side) of the Ohrbach's building still has the exposed rounded upper edges.

Re: Max Foods Montebello Closing

Returned to the center. Office Depot is in their new quarters. Feels like a "Super-Kinko's"! What was in the site they are in now? Peeked in the old Office Depot. Are the vents you are referencing the large rectangular thing on the back wall? Comically, people kept telling me they moved ac...

Re: Fedco

Recent COSTCO magazine discussed how COSTCO began with Fedco roots.

Bit of nostalgia...today I put on my driveway an old couch to be picked up by the trash company.

I bought it at Fedco around 1994!

Re: Circuit City to Liquidate remaining 500 stores.

The Palm Desert CA store was built...and never opened. It is on Monterey Avenue. The sign is on the street...and the brand new store is simply sitting there vacant. This must've been the original site in Palm Desert: http://www.thealley.info/palmdesert.html A replacement for this site was built acr...

Re: Vons stores with old interiors

Yes quite a few Vons stores still have the old interiors, here in Simi Valley the huge Vons on Cochran and Erringer (former GEMCO) still has the original interior from '93. On the other hand, what's odd is that the Vons in Ojai got the new lifestyle trim but still has older lighting. This was a for...

Re: Williams Brothers Markets--California Central Coast

Williams Brothers had eighteen (18) stores. The locations stretched from Santa Barbara to Paso Robles. They were ultimately acquired by VONS in 1991. Anyone have history about the chain? I went to Cal Poly...and remember their ANNOYING television/radio commericals "What a Difference...What a D...

Huntington Beach CA
Pacific Coast Highway @ First
Former site is now a Dairy Queen.

Driving along PCH from HB to Long Beach...there are at least Jack's! They truly exploded in the area during the late 60s!
