Re: Modern Kroger designs in Marietta

Found this by accident earlier. I was wrong in that apparently this store was never had a wedge exterior. It did have the neon/grid interior though. It seems like an oddball store to me because of it's mix of wedge and millenium elements. They also gave the store a renovation recently which included...

Modern Kroger designs in Marietta

Here in Marietta, we had a few "wedge" Krogers in the 90s and, on top of that, one Superstore that was remodeled inside and out to be a wedge when the design was still brand new (though not so thoroughly; it was on Roswell rd.) only to be replaced by a new wedge in 1996. Said 1996 wedge on...

Re: A&P Centennials in Atlanta

I used to drink at that Sidelines daily when I worked at a nearby pizzeria. It's funny I never noticed by now you've mentioned it, the building does look like a former A&P. there is also a former Centennial off the intersection of Concord rd. and S. Cobb dr. In Smyrna.

Re: Save Rite

On the corner of Old Canton and Roswell rd. in Marietta, GA, there is a former Winn Dixie marketplace that spent it's final years as a Save Rite. Half the space was gutted and made into a gym. Funny enough, the other half, as seen by looking through windows, still has original decor, floor, ceiling ...

Re: Former Big Star/Colonial Locations Still Selling Groceri

On the corner of Concord and South Conb in Smyrna, GA, there's a Food Depot that was obviously a Big-Star from the Grand Union era. The lighting system, layout, and the color red on most of the interior doors and fixtures gives it away. It even has a bunch of Big-Star signage including on the entran...

There's a former A&P location over on the corner of Canton Rd. and Blackwell Rd. It's currently a thrift store (under the America's Thrift Stores banner). Everything inside still looks pretty much the same; the place even has the funky style lighting above the checkout counters. Three different ...

There's a greenhouse style Kroger near my house that has a cube logo. The same Kroger also doesn't appear to have seen any renovations since it opened but even so, the styling is the only thing that really lets you know the store is more than a few years old. It's like a time capsule. I'll take some...
