Re: A & P book author on the radio

I just finished listening to it. It was a very interesting interview. I like how he mentioned that many of the same strategies that Walmart employs were originally used by A & P.

Re: Burger King in Clash "Rock the Casbah" Video

I think that it must be the one at 2700 Guadalupe Street because the roof of the one in the video has a straight bottom edge on the bottom across the front, as does the Guadalupe one. The one on Ben White (1001 E. Ben White) has a section of the front edge that cuts down where the two front doors ar...

Re: Older McDonald's Locations

There's another old McDonalds (#1386) at 1420 S El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94402-3020. There still is not a drivethru and the restaurant is pretty small with very little seating. It has a basement storeroom. However, it has parking both beside the parking lot and across the street. http://www.bin...

I look at an aerial thanks to Bing and Google, and the shopping center is still there, but parts of it seem to have been rebuilt. http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=&ie=UTF8&q=cupertino+crossroads&fb=1&gl=us&hq=crossroads&hnear=Cupertino,+CA&hl=en&view=map&cid=1522196...

Hollywood locations in Austin have been having going out of business sales, but the one in Georgetown, TX closed a few months ago, still has the stock inside and hasn't been touched like it's ready to open tomorrow.

It looks like the San Francisco Bay Area ones are gone, according to the web site. I remembering seeing some of them in the late 90s in that area.

Re: Rite Aid "Corner" stores

This one in Fremont, California at Fremont Blvd and Decoto Rd opened between 1997 and 1999, but lasted less than five years: http://tinyurl.com/ykrkofp The aisles were diagonal and was a pretty nice store. It is across the street from a Walgreens that has been there awhile and that maybe the Rite Ai...

Old JC Penney's ad

The San Francisco Chronicle website posted an image of the original article in 1968 about the Zodiac Killer that had an old JC Penney ad below and to the right of it that I thought everyone would find interesting:
