Business looks very slow in those photos. In CA, there is a large handfull of Thrifty ovals remaining either on street or building signs of current Rite Aid Stores with "Rite Aid" filling the oval. A much smaller number of Payless shaped signs remain. San Mateo comes to mind. Funny how Eckerd has a...

Hmmm...the Kmart nearest me on Slauson/Vermont had a Little Ceasars in the same shipping Center plus they sold the pizza inside the store. The last remodel they had they completely removed the eatting area and replaced it with a "Internet Cafe". During Xmas they has a person with a cart within the s...

Are the VONS in Las Vegas have the original signs that used to be Safeways? Like the one at Maryland and Tropicana or Las Vegas Boulevard and Cheyenne, both locations have a sign that none of the newer locations have it is like a pointed up and pointed down sign that is 4-sided... I think those wer...

Great! Thanks for the info. Does anyone know when it turned into a Super Saver? Was it Lucky conversion or a Albertsons conversion? The street sign is in blue but has the Lucky signature shape. I'm leaning more toward Lucky convering this location since albertsons really didn't do MAJOR remodels aft...

There was a former Lucky, #439 at 11011 E. Firestone Blvd in Norwalk. This might be the store in question. Judging from the store number, it would have opened in the mid 60's. The only Lucky Store in Bellflower was a Gemco on Lakewood Blvd. This is not it. That address would be on the corner of Fir...

Super Saver Bellflower, California

Hey Guys! I happen to be looking for fireowrks the other day and came across this store. I forgot the cross street but it's on Firestone Blvd (I think the cross street starts with an "N" but I'm not sure) Anyways what caught me eye was the Lucky style street sign. At first I thought it may have been...

Dunno if this is wishful thinking also but I would like to see a Pavilions commercial. I'm not sure if they made any with JUST Pavilions, but as a child I do remember the commercials with "Vons Pavilions" and a few short radio spots (which they still do).

It seemed like Safeway was the "king" of private store brands - Cragmont, Par, White Magic, Scotch Buy, Mrs. Whites, Crown Colony, Lucerne, Busy Baker..etc was??? They still are! Every VONS/Pavilions I walk into have Safeway brands all over the place. For every national brand, there are 5 Safeway b...
