Pup n Taco- southern CA

Does anybody remember pup n taco? My mom and dad joked that the weekly coupon flyers they would advertise in the Penneysaver drove them out of business. I remember coupons for ketchup and mustard dogs for 5/$1

Thrifty Coffee Shops

I used to eat at a Thrifty Coffee Shop in Covina on the corner of Arrow and Citrus when I worked for Superior Super Warehouse. The entire shopping center has been remodeled then torn down and rebuilt now. No remnants left. I did like the liver and onions they served...yum yum!

Sambos I-10 at Indian Hill

Yes that was a Sambos at I-10 and Indian Hill just north of the freeway. It is a Bakers Square as mentioned in a previous message. Moved to the area in 79 and remember it being open before their demise.

Godfathers Pizza

There was a Godfathers pizza in Chino CA on Central Ave & Philadelphia that was originally a Sambos. It was a Bakers Square for many years after Godfathers closed very quickly. Bakers Square lost the lease and the manager told me the owner of the shopping center got a higher lease offer from a b...

I remember that the store had a beautiful bakery and service deli but I honestly don't remember it being called Ziggys Bakery and Deli.

Ralphs Giant Mountain Ave Ontario

The Ralphs Giant on Mountain in Ontario was deeper than it was wider. The checkstands faced south and ran east to west near the front even though the doors faced east. It was a strange store and definitely was a smaller giant in comparison to the others like the one that was on Holt and Indian Hill ...

Treasury in Montclair

OK I know what you are talking about now. It was called Treasure Hunt, kind of a $1 dollar store. That old building was one of the last newer Mayfair Markets to open when the shopping center was built in the early 80's. The theatre is now a church. Wow I couldn't remember the name of that electronic...

Treasury in Montclair on Central Ave.

Hi Jeff, I live in Montclair and have lived in the area since 1979 and have no idea where this Treasury dept. store was located. Could you give an address or cross street? There is no empty store front I can think of on Central in Montclair. The only empty store front for any length of time was the ...

Fedmart Ontario Mountain Ave

I asked this question about the Fedmart in Ontario. The history I got was that it was originally a White Front, Fedmart, then Target. The building is still standing and has been abandoned for several years and Target moved to the site of the old Montgomery Wards across from Montclair Plaza in Montcl...

Two Guys

Yes I remember that Two Guys in Garden Grove. Strange growing up in Anaheim that many of these stores were in surrounding cities except White Front and Thriftimart had stores in Anaheim. How did mom afford to do all this shopping when my dad was making $2.50/hr? lol!

Old Target Mountain Ave Ontario

Yes Jacks keys is still there sitting all by itself. The shopping center is fenced off and is a nasty eyesore. The fence has been compromised several times and last time I drove by there were shopping cart people camping out there. Was the Toys r Us always there or was that building something else? ...

Superior in Huntington Park

I can tell you that the next shopping center on the same side of Pacific has a former Sav-on now a CVS. This would be the south east corner of Pacific and Slauson. There is a La Curacau latino furniture store in that center. I do remember a Boys Market then a Viva (latino format Boys/QFI). Maybe thi...

76 Balls going away.

that's too bad as I have liked for many years that the 76 station visible from the 60 fwy in Montebello between Garfield and Paramount would put a pumpkin pattern slip over skin on the sign and make it a Jack o'lantern.
