Gong's Market, Sanger, CA

This is on Academy Ave -- was this always an independent? The interior looks like a chain store, but I don't recognize the interior package from any chain I'm familiar with... http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f396/otterphotos/gong1.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f396/otterphotos/gong11.jpg h...

I saw this a few weeks ago -- there was something posted at my local store that had a "@savemart.com" email address, so I checked the site when I got home. Their Porterville store still had the "food and "drugs" signage leftover from when it was a Sav-On, as you can see in t...

Thrifty was in Washington through their purchase of Pay N' Save. I seem to recall they had a sprinkling of Thrifty outlets there prior to that, but they were rebranded to Pay N' Save when they bought that chain. Thrifty also owned Big 5 Sporting Goods at one time. I had a good friend that worked at ...

In fact, there are lots of old pylon-type stores still operating, although most look radically different now. Are there any stores with the pylon architecture still operating as Safeway (not counting Market Street)? The longest operating one *I* know about was the one at Fruit & McKinley here i...

The only information was a handwritten sign on the door that said "SORRY STORE CLOSED". All the Ralphs signage has been removed from the exterior, so I think the store is gone for good.

That Stamp redemption center at Shields & Maroa was originally a Safeway. It was an electrical supply shop for several years, then a thrift shop, and it's currently a church.

The Gemco here had an auto center, when Target took over it was sold or leased to a third party. They ran it for a few years before closing up. It sat vacant for about 6 years before being demolished when the Target store was remodeled inside and out.

I took that photo yesterday, in downtown Fresno. This store is on the edge of the 'hood -- I haven't gone inside to see if there is any other vintage Safeway signage inside. If this is indeed Safeway signage it's just odd that it would turn up 20 years after the last Safeway in the area with this de...

Liquor Store Sign -- Recycled Safeway?

Doesn't it look like Angela has recycled some interior signage from a 70's Safeway? Apart from the "A" and the "L", I think the font is identical to what was used on department signage in a 1970's Safeway store...

What I want to know is where do you find those cans of beer like they have on Roseanne and various other TV shows -- the cans where it looks like it says "Coors" but it really says "Beer" in the same font?
