Supermarket jingles
I thought you would enjoy these jingles from You Tube. First there is the "Everything you want from a store and a little bit more!" jingle. Although I believe this was used chain wide, I know for sure that it was in the US, Canada and Australia. Also I have the "What's on your list to...

Re: Fred Meyer Marketplace, Shelton, WA
I do not know the year the Shelton Stock Market opened. However there is another connection between Fred Meyer and Stock Market Foods. The first Stock Market Foods was opened at the Fred Meyer store in Burien. This Fred Meyer was originally a White Front, then Valu Mart, then Leslies. Valu Mart leas...

Re: Fred Meyer Marketplace, Shelton, WA
This particular store is a former "Stock Market Foods". Stock Market Foods was started by Uddenberg Foods, which owned several Thriftways. Uddenberg was eventually bought out by QFC. Many stores were rebannered as QFC as Stock Market was a warehouse format. Some were kept as Stock Market a...

Re: three square sign, 1531 NE 145th st. Seattle
This store was indeed a Lucky store. When the Seattle division of Lucky was sold to Associated Grocers, this location was acquired by Olson's. That is why there is a oval QFC sign. Some of the other Lucky stores became Food Giant, Johnny's, Thriftway, Larry's among others. The former Lucky (Mayfair)...

Re: Kennewick, WA Former Pylon Safeway
That is the first Safeway I remember going into as a child. My grandmother always shopped there as it was only 2 blocks from her house. Thanks for bringing back some good memories. Which one? The one in Kennewick or Tacoma? OOPS! hehehe I meant Tacoma. Grandma used to live at 84th and Fawcett Ave. ...

Re: Former Boston Market locations in your area
In West Seattle, the Boston Market here got tunred into a very nice Taco Time outlet, which has been remodeled a couple of times already. In Burien, WA, it became a locally owned Mexican grill called, Ole Mole. But it didn't last long. Then it became a branch for Wells Fargo Bank until Wells bought ...

Supermarket logos used for other purposes.
Yesterday, I was in a Macy's store in Downtown Spokane, WA. One thing that caught my eye was a sign pointing to "Lucky Brand" clothing. I had heard of that line of clothing. But what caught my eye was the use of the Lucky Supermarkets logo as part of the display The clothing and the clothi...

Re: Falk's ID (Idaho)
Falk's ID was a division of the PN Hirsch Company. Here in Seattle, PN Hirsch owned Wigwam stores. They were very low cost department stores. I thought the stores were cheap and where kind of like dime stores with cheap clothing. When Wigwam stores were closed here, I do remember seeing a sign for F...

Re: Long's Drugs being bought by CVS and will disappear by 2009
I remember seeing the last new Payless in Seattle in the Fremont district. It opened after the Rite Aid merger. It had the Payless logo but a Rite Aid interior. It didn't last long. It eventually became a store called, "Fremont Fresh Market". I don't know if it is still there.

Re: Fred Meyer, 6th & Alder, Portland
I visited this store in the early 1990's and found it was a drug and variety only Freddy's. By the mid 90's, it was sold to Payless Drug. It is now a Rite Aid.

Re: The Different Formats of Fred Meyer
The Lake City Fred Meyer store in Seattle also had a separate Home Improvement and Garden Center across the street from the original store. It should be noted that this particular store was a non food Freddys that had been a Marketime Drug. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe that store didn...

Re: Long's Drugs being bought by CVS and will disappear by 2009
Longs had a presence in Washington and Oregon, through its' acquisition of Drug Emporium in the 1990's. Long's exited the region and sold some stores to Rite Aid. Most stores were not sold to Rite Aid, but the perscription files were. I do know that the Aloha, OR Rite Aid is a former Longs.

Re: A Marina Safeway Copycat?
This was a former Albertsons. The Albertsons further up Sunset Blvd is the replacement for the St. Vincent's location. There were two other Albertsons in the Seattle area that I know of, maybe more, that were kind of a "Marina" store. One was in Federal Way on Pacific Hwy. That store has b...

Re: A&P "Centennial" Stores Still Housing Supermar
I am NOT sure about this information. Hopefully someone will confirm if this information is correct. But I believe that the QFC at Lakewood Colonial Center, in Lakewood, WA is a former A&P. It may also look like a former A&P because this is a themed shopping center.
