Mystery Interiors: Cleveland, OH

I found these shots on some old TV footage. Anyone recognize the stores depicted? It could even be the same store, I don't know. The scenes are from the early 80's. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f396/otterphotos/PDVD_296.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f396/otterphotos/PDVD_300.jpg http://...

That Pylon kind of looks like an old Safeway.

The first Target that opened in the Fresno market was the old Gemco at First & Shields. Last year they totally remodeled the exterior and interior, removing the Gemco facade once and for all. However, the bathrooms are still vintage Gemco, and the brickwork on the sides of the building is origin...

Ah, I had never seen any photos of an Uncle Bill's so they didn't come to mind. OTP completely removed any trace of another store form the interior -- theere's just a bare concrete floor and exposed ceiling inside with no decor at all. The space I believe to be a former grocery was re-fronted someti...

Was this a Kmart?

This store is currently operating as Old Time Pottery, but I know it was something else before. There is an unused garden center on the right hand side of the store, and the bathroom area in the back feels like a 60's-70's era Kmart. I also thought of Zayre, which did have stores in Cleveland, but I...

Ah, OK. There's so much paint and plywood paneling on this center it's hard to tell what was what. I was going to take a pic of the store at the other end of the plaza but the parking lot was so crowded I decided to skip it this time.

I had wondered the same thing after seeing an episode of Malcolm In The Middle filmed at a Jons. I assumed that they filmed in a Vons and just changed the name for their purposes. Research proved me wrong on that one.

I was shopping today, and took a picture of the entrance of the former Halle's store. This is the Burlington Coat entrance, sunken from the main parking lot.

Fisher Foods? 93rd & Kinsman, Cleveland OH

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f396/otterphotos/93kinsman01.jpg Was this the Fisher or the A&P? Sorry for the crappy pic, I didn't get out of my car this time and took the shot through the windshield as I drove past. This area is still very economically depressed, a lot of abandonment surrou...

Thanks for clearing up the Halle's mystery. (How do you pronounce that, BTW?) Not being from ere I hadn't thought of them as a tenant. The second story is partially filled by BCF and partially filled by a sporting goods store. The way the store is built into a hillside, the sporting goods store has ...

I agree. However, the inside does look much better than the outside. :)

While we are talking Fisher, here's a link to an old Fisher ad:

I was just about to say... "Vons is the MORE store!!"

Anything form Safeway in the 80's-early 90's: Work An Honest Day, Get An Honest Deal, See The Difference.... Taste The Difference..., It's The Special Things We Do... Especially For You!, etc. etc.

Thanks for solving that one so quickly! The Detroit Ave. store was indeed rebuilt or expanded into a modern Finast/Tops, and is now a Giant Eagle. I found a picture fo that corner from the 50's that shows the Kroger store Giant Eagle was originally in, and the Pick And Pay sign is in the same place ...

I ventured into this store today, and the interior is definately a recent castoff from some chain, but I don't know which one. The freezer cases and shelving are newish, and there were tons of pieces of old shelf tags left on them but I didn't recognize the style of them and didn't see any store bra...
