Remember one from someplace as a kid in the late 60's or early 70's. Anyone remember KFC and IHOP together back in the 60's ...long before it was popular. I vaguely remember one somewhere like Gatlinburg, TN or the Smokey Mountains somewhere.

There was a Sambo's in front of Anderson Mall in Anderson,SC ...opened in early 70's and was glass and rock. It was a great place for pancakes. It too, suffered from the "little black Sambo" issue, eventually closed and was a pizza place, a chinese place and eventually torn down and replac...

The orange & yellow Ingle's stores of the 70's were their original look ...some are still around, usually sitting empty somewhere.

In Charleston, there used to be a Harris Teeter on E. Bay Street (?) in a converted old warehouse ....architecturally it fit in the old neighborhood really well and was unusual. It may be there but not sure if it's still H-T or a Bi-Lo now.

Greenville SC had 2 Family Marts in the early 80's (maybe I'm off on the dates) ...one on corner of Haywood/Howell at E. North/Old Spartanburg and the other at 291 and Mauldin Road ....both are now Bi-Lo stores. Not to sure about them as I only went in a few times.

I remember our huge Kmart in Anderson, SC ...as a kid we'd wander around forever in there. There was a cafeteria in the back with lot of wood and that yellow glass. We actually ate there a few times but my parents had a friend who worked there. Up front, we'd get those sub sandwiches from blue light...

WINN DIXIE

Winn Dixie always seems to show up in movies set in the deep south (but not for long I don't guess ...or at least now they'll be abandoned stores), like "Fried Green Tomatoes" and of course, "Because of Winn Dixie."

THE CLASSIC INGLES

Grew up in upstate SC and had the classic Ingle's across the street from my high school. It was cool and funky. A lot of orange and stuff. They had that cool sign that said "The best meat in Town." I also went into the Ingle's you mentioned in Traveler's Rest. Most of those were the "...

TREASURE ISLAND
