Re: Bullocks Wilshire
Bullocks Wilshire referred to the location (Wilshire Blvd Miracle Mile) of one of the L.A. area Bullocks department stores. So the one in Palm Desert would have been known as Bullocks Palm Desert.Jeff wrote:I remember Bullocks Wilshire's store in Palm Desert. Originally it was a Bonwitt-Teller, then BW.

I'm heading to this neighborhood soon
North side of Slauson, between Overhill and Angeles Vista, Windsor Hills district. It still exists, complete with pylon (possible labelscar also), as does the curvy former Thrifty on the corner. Streetview shows a copy shop in the Thrifty and a storage facility in the Mayfair. This is the neighborho...

Re: Alpha Beta in Orange County
Its long gone now with Nordstroms remodeling it. Circuit City I know is across El Toro on the north side. It is now. Back in the eighties, when I was buying a TV, audio stuff, and a washer and dryer from them, they were in that bldg. It's weird how certain memories stay burned into one's brain. I c...

Re: Alpha Beta in Orange County
I distinctly recall being told that the Circuit City was in the old Alpha Beta, and that was in the late eighties, well after the mall showed up. When I looked at the front of the Tower Records bldg in Street View, I'm pretty sure I saw some Circuit City looking orange/red tile work at the entrance....

Re: Alpha Beta in Orange County
That's definitely the LW Laguna Hills location. Not only do I recognize the building in back, I also recognize the store itself. I remember when it stood alone in the middle of what had been a swampy depression. Laguna Hills Mall eventually blocked it from view from the direction of the freeway. The...

Re: Former Boston Market locations in your area
San Juan Capistrano is closed, but I have no idea what's in there now. 32022 Camino Capistrano, Ste C.
Streetview still shows the Boston Market signage.
I was just down there 2 days before this topic appeared. Oh well, next time.

Re: Old Department Store Restaurants
The W.T. Grant built in 1972 in the distinctly isolated (at the time) San Clemente, CA had a Bradford House restaurant. I enjoyed the food there, and it was an inexpensive place for a perennially near-broke high school kid to eat.
Now it's a Little Caesar's (blech) inside a K-Mart.

Re: Stouffer's Restaurants
As a kid, I distinctly remember eating at a Stouffer's restaurant somewhere in the L.A. area back in the early sixties. It was in their banquet room because my Grandmother was getting some kind of award from the Daughters of the Confederacy. The reason I remember it was: I liked the food and I was a...

Re: Car dealerships inside former mall anchor spaces
Since they use liquidators in their trade style, I'm fairly certain that empty space is filled to the brim with vehicles for auction on weekends. That's the way the auction lots are around here... ghost towns during the week but hives of activity on the weekend.
