Though I grew up with Thrifty Foods, Thriftway which later became a Red Apple and of course Safeway in PNW I only know of larrys a new built (probably 89 or 90 when built near Space Needle. Any ideas of what will happen to Larrys? Are Thrifty Foods, Thriftway or Red Apples still in extistence up the...

Cart

I would have snatched up that cart in a New York Second. It looks like it wasnt at a Safeway and being used by a homeless person maybe? Was this the only one you saw? I think it would make a great planter to incorperate into the yard I know that's a little weird though.

old Safeway

I'm not sure but if I recall it was on the Almaden Expressway somewhere. I never get down to San Jose and would really like to know myself so I can see it before it turns Lifestyle like all the others are doing at a fast rate. If anyone gets any pics let us know! Also all those Albertsons closings d...

Color

I'm am almost certain it is International Orange which appears to be more of a red color. Most people think GG Bridge is red but in fact Int Orange. I believe i read that in the business section of the paper awhile back. Not sure why they would paint the Space Needle top the same color during 62 Wor...

A shade of orange

it doesn't look fully red to me. It looks more like "International Orange" which the Golden Gate Birdge is painted and also was the same color the top of the Space Needle in Seattle was painted for the year of the fair before coverting to a white top.

White Front

Was surprised to find out thru this board that South San Francisco was once a White Front. It was all a White Front? I remember going into what seemed to me was a real big Longs and then the Safeway was unlike any Ive ever seen, the signs were painted on thew wall and had a weird managers box in cor...

Cala/Bell

There was a Marin Independent article today on the store sales. It said all the Marin stores will stay open and will concentrate on "Ralphs" image labeling even though they have closed most or all of the Ralphs. I am not sure if this includes keeping Kroger brands on shelf too. The article...

Neat KFC photos!

Neat KFC photos! Cant believe they would get rid of that old store for the new one. A real piece of Americana lost. I wonder what they did with the head? The chicken KFC is one I have never seen before either. I always remember seeing them square with the roof and weather vane on top and rotating bu...

Suprising

Surprising they are all concentrated in the Southern California area (where I do recall seeing them) but everywhere else virtually wiped out. Thank goodness there is one in San Jose still but none north of there until you get to Washington. I wonder why they only have one (or two counting Wa and Ida...

McDonalds

McDonalds nowadays can be found in gas stations too, most have play places, most of the properties are early seventies into the nineties if they have the trademark roof. I had a job where i went into every single one on a regualr basis alomg with 76 stations in Bay Area, to take pics and evaluate. M...

Pay N Saves

Pay N Saves were pretty prevelant in the pacific NW. Who could forget the bright green and blue they used in thier uniforms and logos, and then to walk into one with all the flourecent lighting made the colors even brighter. They had thier own brands of Head and Shoulders and other drug store goods....
