and yes that is the North Davis store I was talking about.. I studied your shakey town pic and realized that is the south Davis store.. it's more downscale than the uppity north Nugget. Nugget used (closed) to have a store on Walerga ( I think) North Highlands area that was a getto Nugget... it used...

Andersen plaza is a Albertsons isn't it ? Funny, I used to be a Schwan's guy and Davis was one of my routes... but that was five years ago and things change and the memory goes!

you REALLY need to lay off the coffee when you take those pictures! I lived on Pole Line Rd in Davis for about 3 months back in 1997. The founder of the company left and formed his own company and licensed the name on restaurants in Sacramento, Santa Rosa, and Milpitas. I'm curious where those locations were, and if they're still standing... Time to do some investigating ! I wonder if that victorian tea room restaraunt in Orangev...

bummer, the sign was the coolest part! I think it must have changed hands as the original owner was dirt 90 back 5 or 6 years ago. There was an article in either the Sac Bee or SN&R about him way back then also.

It was a Kings chineese buffet for a while but that is now closed. Is that owned by the "Kings" restaurant on West Capitol that used to have its "slot machine" like sign? I doubt it. Is the one on West Capitol still around ? I ate there once a few years ago and wasn't impressed ...

Hometown Buffet is located in the Southgate Plaza shopping center. It is still open and is the best and cleanest one I have been to. The buffet at Florin Mall was a JJ North, it was also pretty good, but it closed up. It was a Kings chineese buffet for a while but that is now closed.

There was a White Front on Hegenberger Blvd in Oakland. It was a Home Club / Home Base in the 90's then it closed when the chain went under. The building was HUGE.
