Rich, that's exactly where that was. The other signage is long gone. I forget what is in the space now, but it's nothing to do with retail now. I bet there was some cool vintage Fisher stuff in there after they left... And I know this is getting off topic, but I was in the Giant Eagle on Clifton nea...

This is an interior fromt he Fairview Park Giant Eagle that is a former Tops. Judging by the interior of Rego's, an independent that occupies a former Tops in another part of town I'd say Giant Eagle did nothing to the interior of this location. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f396/otterphotos/top...

Was this a grocery? It kind of looks like one and I know Family Dollar moves into a lot of old grocery properties...

Cleveland: Fisher Foods HQ

Found the remnants of this sign on an old warehouse in Downtown Cleveland. It says, in case you can't make it out: HOME OF FISHER FOODS with "Offices" and "Bakery" above that.

Interestingly enough, there's still an Arthur Treacher's in Parma, on an outlot of the Old Time Pottery plaza, which was once an Uncle Bill's/Pick N Pay combo.

I can't believe Marc's had pizza places. That's scary.

I found a realty site that had listings for all the currently vacant Tops stores, and it had them all marked as "Leased". I wonder if this was an error or if someone has indeed gobbled up all this real estate. I don't have the link to the page anymore, as I came across it during the period...

I recall the Thrifty at Blackstone & Ashlan in Fresno had a Curtis restaurant in it until the late 80's. The restaurant was accessed through a door inside Thrifty. When they sold it to an independent operator, they put a big ice freezer over the door. When Thrifty closed, the doorway was walled ...

I wonder if the Brooklyn store is where the Salvation Army store is now. I was in there and they had a great terrazzo floor in there, and I thought it looked like it was a five and dime at one point.

Here's a better picture of the exterior of this store taken this afternoon. It looks to date from the 60's, with the roof part of the building being a more recent remodel effort.

Former Convenience Store, Madison Ave, Cleveland OH

I'm not sure if this the proper forum for this post, but it didn't appear to go in another forum. What was the original tenant of this convenience store building? It's got some sort of colonial motif on it, and a weathervane remains on the roadside sign. I know it was a chain of some sort but I have...

That makes sense. I can't believe I didn't think of this use, but that's probably because I had never shopped at a store that had parcel pickup until very recently. The Heinen's chain in Cleveland does parcel pickup, but they have a rack of plastic numbers, one goes on the cart and you get the other...

A&P was one I hadn't thought of. Unfortunately there were no exterior shots in any of this footage, only the interior shots I posted. Would you say this interior was of 1960's vintage?

I wonder if they could fit a few more security cameras in there. Hopefully you weren't hassled by anyone in the store.
