Would turning supermarkets into fitness clubs count? If so, I know a former Kroger that is now a Golds Gym in Macon Georgia. And a Grand Union in Wilton Manors Florida (where I worked briefly in the 80's) was subdivided into a fitness club and one of several gay nightclubs in the area. The neighborh...

The orange & yellow Ingle's stores of the 70's were their original look ...some are still around, usually sitting empty somewhere. There is one in Stockbridge, GA (South of Atlanta) on HWY 138 sharing a shopping center with Wal-Mart. Ingles closed this store after WAL-Mart built a supercenter a...

Harvey's, mentioned earlier in Georgia, is owned by Delhaize, and has been a name branded on some Food Lion stores in Georgia. The name was local, but is now being switched back & forth w/Food Lion in many areas. Harvey's has a history in South Georgia of setting up in older supermarket buildin...

Also remember that many KMart/Pantry Prides were J.M. Fields/Food Fairs. KMart was the biggest buyer of J.M. Fields when Food Fair disposed of them. Side note: Do you remember the Grand Union/Grand Way combos?? Steve, Thanks for the info on the K-Mart/Pantry Prides. I forgot the name J.M Fields and...

But my family used to frequent LAKES MALL in Lauderdale Lakes, FL in the 1970's. It had a Pantry Pride with entrances on the ext...

I remember the KMart on Oakland Park Blvd in the Ft. Lauderdale area had a K-Mart Foods store in the early 1970's. Also there were two K-Marts that had Pantry Pride Supermarkets attached, also in the early 1970s. They were located in Margate on State Road 7 and in Pompano Beach at US1 & Copans R...

Adding to the list. I know I have seen some Ralphs markets or logos in many California based movies. Only one I know for sure is the mid 1970's disney movie "Gus". The scene where they are chasing a horse through a supermarket. But having never been to CA I have no idea where it is. Also l...

Family Marts in GA, FL and AL

One Family Mart location in South Florida (Tamarac) was open for a very short time in the mid 1980's at the corner of McNab Road and University Drive. The store had competed with a large Albertsons ...
