Re: Ohrbach's Department Store
Ah, the old Cerritos store reopened today as a FOREVER XXI and it looks awful. Goodbye to the old brickwork outside and now it looks like an aluminum hull. I have to see it in person. They have some pictures of it in hte OC Register.

Re: Westfield Palm Desert
Dean - I think I remember what the Macy's Furniture store was prior to it being that. If I remember correctly, there was a movie theatre, like a 4 screener located off the main walkway on that side of the mall. It later (early 90's) moved and expanded to a 10 screener by the Ice Rink. Does that ring...

Makes sense, as it looks like the still open unit in Rosemead, albeit slightly altered.

Re: Der Wienerschnitzel
Those buildings look more like Tastee Freeze buildings than Der Wienerschnitzel. DW buildings up until the 70's didn't have a dining room area, just a place to order and the drive thru in the center of the store. Unless they completely had different designs for out of state stores.

Wow that's incredible. How did you get into the old Hawthorne Plaza? I've been wanting to go in and look at it. Hows the interior of the old Broadway and JCPenney stores holding out? Jeff, Hi Jeff! A real estate investment company currently owns the mall and makes money on the side by using the for...

The Super A closure in Pico was just that, coincidence. When I went in it last year it was empty. Definitely suffered from WalMart and ElSuper.

The only fit for that site is JCPenney, which hasn't been in San Bernardino since they closed their location at the Carousel Mall. Kohls could be another possibility. This store is HUGE (3 levels, 200,000+ sq ft), and when I visited it back when the store was closing, still had a lot of original May...

The chain is long gone. The Puente Hills was a Hyundai dealer which moved to the former Superior Nissan store on the former IKEA/STOR site. This Nissan Dealer I think was only open a month or two before it closed.

Re: Pioneer Chicken
Apparently Pioneer is slowly going into history.
The Hollywood store was evicted last year, the store off Sunset closed last year and apparently so did the location on Olympic/San Vicente.
I dont know the status of the other two known locations (Bell Gardens and East LA)

Re: UPLAND CA--Pavilions Site
Are the old kitchen areas for the hot food areas still in the middle of the store? No. From what I can tell...of what is left...they are in the back right hand corner. Do stop by Jeff! I did a few years ago when it first opened. It still had the Panda-Express kitchen area in the middle of the store...

Re: Two chains, same name, same state
I'm surprised no one has mentioned LUCKY yet. Here in California, Lucky in the north part of the state (owned by Save Mart) is a regular full line market, while LUCKY in the south is more of a warehouse type store.
Both have the same slogans and script as the original chain.
