Gloversville Loblaw's finally getting demolished
This building is finally getting demolished to make way for a new Stewarts... here is a pic of the grand opening back in 1955. Admittedly I wouldn't mind owning some of the signage. http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2015/aug/10/0810_loblaws/ http://frontpagegloversville.com/picture/loblaw%27s%20super...

Rotterdam Mall
I used to go to this mall a lot and I even worked in the sears for a while, I just heard that Macy's was going to be going out of business in there and I am really not sure if the mall could attract a new anchor. With this closing i believe that the mall's fortunes are very much entwined with that o...

Re: White Tower
wow you mean right by the Chinese restaurant where people wait to catch the 370? I walk by there every day and that would have been awesome to see since now it is a vacant lot... was it a traditional art-deco designed white tower or just a standard building and when was it last operating? Now there ...

White Tower
Does anybody remember this old restaurant? They were a white castle ripoff that focused more on being a diner I know there is one here in Albany that is now a dance club. The one operating in Amsterdam NY was a victim of the urban renewal plan to build a mall which was a total fail. There are a lot ...

Re: KMart Cafeteria and Other Restaurants
The last i seen of K-Cafe was in the Herkimer NY KMart which closed a long time ago but remained sitting unused for a long time before they finally walled it off... I suspect it might still be used as a breakroom for employees or just storage

Re: Barker's Department Stores
Add Oneonta, NY to the list. That store was located in the Pyramid Mall along NYS Route 7 on the outskirts of town. It began life as a White-Modell around '73 or so and became a Barker's a year or two later. It eventually became a Nichols and last I knew the entire mall structure is home to a medic...

Big M
I know very little about this chain other than the fact that they were the supermarket in my hometown that everyone avoided. The average Big M is like taking a trip back in time to the 70s just dank and depressing. It seems to follow the Grand Union business plan (open in place where there is no com...

Re: Great American
Gloversville, NY-began life as a Loblaws and was most recently a call center. Closed in 1995. Gloversville NY Great American.jpg I worked at the call center I had no idea it was ever a Loblaws though... was it relocated from somewhere else? I kinda recall seeing the corpse of another loblaws beside...

Re: Great American
I think the Great American in Canajoharie is still standing being used as storage or something. The flood kinda hurt it though.. so it might just be a decrepit building.
