Re: 7-Eleven Stores with Full-Length Storefronts
I am going to go off-topic here for a bit and ask: how many other 7-Elevens have had the classic "three squares" logo suspended (or semi-suspended) on the storefront, as seen on two California-area stores? Supposedly on some older '70s stores that were part of shopping centers, the 7-Elev...

Old Fred Meyer Stores w/ Separate HI&GCs
Hi, Does anyone here remember all the old Fred Meyer stores whose Home Improvement and/or Garden Centers were in separate buildings? I am one of those people. Of course, the placement of the main store and the HI&(or)GC would prove not to sit well with everybody. A list of locations with HI&...

7-Eleven Stores with Full-Length Storefronts
Hi, Since the majority of 7-Eleven stores nationwide have striped paneling on their storefronts, be it where two red squares were if on either side of the 7-Eleven logo on the older locations, or, on many stores since about 1978, full-length paneling that stretches to almost the entire storefront (o...

Re: Does anybody know what address this Safeway was located?
I believe the image is from the mid 1970's, possibly in Bubank California. It had roof top parking. Please e-mail and let me know. ChicagoCop20968@yahoo.com Thank You! While I cannot help you on how old this store is or where it's at, its exterior does look unique for its time, though. I wonder if ...

Can Anyone Decipher How Old This 7-Eleven Is?
Here is a 7-Eleven store located on the Venice and Sepulveda Boulevards in western Los Angeles, California. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2292/1849525883_79090bfb4b_o.jpg (photo credit: T.N. Re: Taco Bell Conversions
Guys, bad news for the Taco Bell near Mall 205, at 9350 SE Stark St: They totally re-did the entire building. Its late 1980s guise is no longer, except for its road signs (with newer graphics, of course). I saw it today as I was going to -- and coming back from -- Washington via Interstate 205.

Re: 7-Eleven Stores (1980-Prior)
Were there any 7-Elevens in the 1970s that had no "formal" roof designs, which seemed to mimic certain older designs of stores that lacked the usual mansard or shake roof? Here in the Portland/Vancouver area, the West Linn, OR location at 19100 Willamette Drive comes to mind. It has fallen...

Re: 7-Eleven Stores (1980-Prior)
Anyone got any idea if this particular 7-Eleven corresponds to any known styles? I'm guessing it was a conversion of an existing gas station, but there's a possibility it might be an older style as well. All I can say at the moment is that this store, which seems to date from the early '80s, seems ...

Re: 7-Eleven Stores (1980-Prior)
I have a question as to the bricks and roof styles used on these various classic 7-11s: Is it true the bricks of the building structures were red from the 1960s up to the early 1980s, and then were a slightly lighter red-bordering-on-brown/tan from the early 1980s to the early 1990s, and then the br...

Re: Unusual 7-11 in Palm Springs, CA
I REALLY REALLY want to say the old 7-Eleven at 3230 SW 87th Ave in Portland (just south of Canyon) had the logo on the right side brick facade. (If you street view it, it's the "Dog Gone Clean" building). I believe this was pretty normal in 7-Eleven's design at one time. This was my chil...

Unusual 7-11 in Palm Springs, CA
Here is a photograph of a 7-Eleven in Palm Springs, CA. The architecture, which features the 7-Eleven logo seen before the left entrance (rather than it being centered on the roof) looks rather unusual for a 1970s store: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4061/4675015133_6302e452e0_b.jpg (Photo by flyll...

Re: Taco Bell Conversions
I would be surprised if they ever remodeled a Mission-style to a mansard...I don't see any practical way to do that conversion...cost-wise or logistically. But I don't think they did a lot of 'tear down and rebuild' in the 80's. I think they were more likely to build a new structure nearby and move...

Safeway's Early Years (in Portland, Oregon)
Hi, Seeing as Safeway's presence in Portland, OR goes back to 1921, eight years before the chain even called itself Safeway, I am thinking the 1921-29 stores must've been branded as Skaggs or as Seelig, correct? Does anyone have a list of Skaggs or Seelig stores in Portland, OR (thumbing back to pho...

Taco Bell Conversions
Hi, Were there any older Taco Bell stores (the mission-type buildings that ran from circa 1965 to 1986) that had been converted to the mansard-style buildings the chain adopted after 1986-87? You know, this issue is similar to when Safeway demolishes or a pylon building and puts a Marina Prototype b...
