There used to a Super Foods chain that was somehow connected with Big Bear. There were several in the 70s and early 80s in the Montgomery, Alabama area. The chain was notable for being open 24 hours - very unusual in those days, at least in Montgomery. It was also the first store to have its own bakery.
The storefronts usually had wood shingles, and at least one store had the number 24 in neon.
The parent company of both Super Foods and Big Bear I think was named Hudson-Thompson. Presumably it only operated in the southeast, but I don't know for certain.
Does anyone remember Super Foods?
