Mayfair was in Reno until sometime in the late 80's. The store on Plumb became "The Market" and was not open long. I am not entirely sure who owned that store after Mayfair or what the arrangement there was. It is now a Marshalls. The store in downtown Reno on N. Virginia St. became JJ's Food Co. which was a Scolaris Warehouse Market without the branding and higher prices. It was demolished in the mid 1990's for the Silver Legacy Casino. The Mayfair in Carson City became a Scolaris Warehouse Market. It is now a Harbor Freight Tools. There was also a Mayfair in Elko, that is now Roy's Foodtown. Someone has told me there was once a Mayfair in Hawthorne but I am not really sure of that.

1901 Silverada was still open as Warehouse Market in 1981 and today is branded Sak N Save (Scolaris discount format). I think maybe it is in a different or expanded space now as it is a very large space that I understand started life as some kind of discount store. Evidently Warehouse Market had a smaller store elsewhere on the property over the years.

Also the Lakeside Dr. Reno and Sun Valley Dr. Warehouse Market locations started life as "Big D Foods" according to some Reno City Directories I had. Probably in the early 70's. Those were stores 8 and 9.

I pulled Carson City out of the spreadsheet and will be doing that as a separate page soon.

You didn't find any Fox Markets or Fox's Food Fair?

Food Fair Stores bought a chain in Southern California called Fox Markets in the 1960's.

There were 50 stores in California and 25 in Nevada.

????

I imagine Reno was too far north and that all the Fox’s stores will probably concentrated in the Las Vegas area.
