Marketplace - Gainesville, TX

Post by tesg »

Happened upon this old Safeway in Gainesville, TX on Tuesday. It has a partially intact (albeit painted) Safeway interior...

Gainesville is along I-35 near the Oklahoma border.

About what period would that decor date to? The 1970s?

I'd hazard a guess it originally had that mid 70's Safeway interior where the department signage was one word painted on the wall and another part done in lettering on top of the painted word. (As an example "milk and eggs" was in lettering and "DAIRY" was painted on the wall.) This store is a great find in any case!
