Former Finast locations in Queens & Westchester NY

First National, aka FINAST supermarkets in New York.

34-20 Junction Blvd, Jackson Heights Queens NY. Corner of 34th ave and Junction Blvd.

This was a FINAST store until around 1980 or 81 when it became a C-Town store. It was a C-Town (co-op) supermarket for a decade then it became this "Junction Food Bazaar". The awnings and paint completely hide the original Finast plain brick exterior.

However, this FINAST store on Bell Blvd in Bayside Queens, just north of Northern Blvd has had few if any alterations to its exterior. Except for the change in sinage, this is how both the Jackson Heights and Bayside FINASTS looked.

Both the Finast's stores I have posted closed around the same time. The Bayside store became a GENOVESE DRUG STORE which later merged and became an ECKERD store which recently converted to RITE AID. (as you can tell from the current sinage)

And I regret that progress has eliminated a great 1950's/1960's style Finast on Rt22 outside of White Plains, NY.

This is the STOP AND SHOP in its place. All indications are that this is new construction on the same site. The location was a shopping center with the anchor store as a Finast into the late 1980's and then a Stop and Shop
Many former Finast stores were converted to Edwards or later Stop and Shop under same ownership.
