Any ideas what store once occupied what is now the Selden Thift Store in Westfield plaza in Selden, NY?!?!? I have asked around town but all people can tell me is that it was a Cheap John's back in the 80's... The building looks like it may have been an old Finast, as it bears a resemblance to the Finast (now S&S) in East Setauket... Any ideas?!?!?!?!

It might help if you posted a picture or at least a link to something like a Google Maps view...

This (http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/upload/plan ... il2006.pdf) says the Selden Thrift shopping center was built in 1972, and the East Setauket Finast (now S&S) in 1973. You may be onto something.

Does Suffolk county have a tax assessment website where you can do lookups? Might be able to find the information you seek there (what the property was originally).

Mystery solved. It was a Hill's.

Thank you everybody for your help! I was also able to find an article in the NY Times about Hill's being in East Setauket where the Stop and Shop now is!
