History in Color: Grand Grocery, Lincoln, NE 1942

Post by submariner »

The Denver Post has an amazing set of color photos from the Depression era to early WWII in the US (1939-1943). Included is a shot of a Grand Grocery in Lincoln Nebraska in 1942.

I saw the same photo collection (initially for a different reason: there are railroad photos).

Any thoughts about what the words directly below "Grand Grocery" are at the left? It's "Farmers" (something) "Store" but the post blocks the middle of the phrase.

I am guessing "Farmers Superstore". I also liked the detail in that old picture, especially the "Old Dutch Cleanser" woman below the signs in the window.
