Hi,
Does anyone remember seeing any corporate logos on all our local stores and restaurants, but (in regards to quite a few) were not then in current use (in printed material) when we were but young schoolboys?
My hot sheet in 1986 (aged 5):
Sears - Roman Serif font - 1963-1984 (an all-caps variation did exist)
Exhibits: Clackamas Town Center (retail), Plaza 205 (Outlet Store), Grand & Lloyd (Catalog Store)
Then-current logo: Slanted Arial all-caps with streaks (1984-2003)
Safeway - Abstract Circle S - 1950s-December 1981
Exhibits: 10554 SE Main St, Milwaukie, OR; 95 82nd Dr, Gladstone, OR; 5420 SE 82nd Ave, Portland, OR
Then-current logo: Abstract TV Tube S (January 1982-April 2005)
Montgomery Ward - The Plaque - 1968-1982
Exhibits: Clackamas Town Center, Mall 205
Then-current logo: Underlined (1982-1992)

I can recall that the JCPenney store at (I think) Winrock Mall in Albuquerque NM had the old "Penney's" logos for quite a while after they were replaced, well into the Eighties.

There is one JCPenney store remaining that we know of currently that sports the old logo.Brian Lutz wrote:I can recall that the JCPenney store at (I think) Winrock Mall in Albuquerque NM had the old "Penney's" logos for quite a while after they were replaced, well into the Eighties.
Montclair Plaza in Montclair, CA. Its an easter egg, as they neglected to replace the old logo when they added a 2nd level to the mall in the 1980's and now this still lingers there:
Thanks to RandallFlagg who found it:
A couple of Sears Stores here in Los Angeles have old logos.
East Los Angeles (standalone) has three different types, from th3 1930's, 1960's and 1970's:
Here are the 1930's and 1960's on the actual store on Soto St
The Auto Center across the street uses a 1960's or 70's logo
Sears in Santa Monica has a 1940's and 1960's signange:
