That looks like a very stylized W to me. If you look at the bottom, it looks notched to be a W and not a V.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I've looked at it many times over the years (I have too much time on my hands sometimes) and I've never been able to find a notch other than the false one created by the shadow.

It was. Recently though, they were acquired by Vinn-Dixie.

Nice to see the outside of the Marina Safeway in PG&E's infomercial. Click on the CFL bulb, and look real close;

Caught a bit of cable channel TLCs LITTLE PEOPLE BIG WORLD show this week.

The family went grocery shopping for Christmas dinner in a LIFESTYLED SAFEWAY-owned store.

Couldn't tell if a true Safeway...or a Safeway-owned chain...as they all look the same!

They live in Oregon, so it probably is a Safeway. They also shop at Fred Meyer in the series

Hilarious news item this past week.

Dog walked into a SMITH'S (Utah, I believe).

Dog walked directly to the pet food aisle, grabbed a bone, and walked out. Cameras got the entire "robbery" on tape !!

I was watching a movie called "10 Items Or Less" starring Morgan Freeman, and they filmed it in a mexican market somewhere (I heard Carson). Several interior and exterior shots are seen.

According to this post on the Franklin Avenue blog: http://franklinavenue.blogspot.com/2008 ... right.html an episode of Mad Men that takes place in LA has a grocery bag with the old script version of the Ralphs logo. They didn't have a picture but I presume it's the pre-oval version.

Werent they using the Oval with curisve lettering before the newer, non-cursive oval logo?

Yes: http://homepage.mac.com/runchadrun/groc ... hsoval.jpg It was replaced with the modernized oval sometime in the late 80s, and the oval was more or less dropped altogehter in the last few years.

I'm assuming this is the logo they used on Mad Men, which had some minor tweaks over the years:

Murray, Utah, specifically.

Apparently, a woman in Washington state thinks it's her long lost dog.
