Buttrey-Osco stores without pharmacies

Post by Super S »

I got to thinking about an oddity. In the mid-80s, the Buttrey-Osco store in Boise's Hillcrest shopping center (currently Albertsons) was the only one in Boise which did not have a pharmacy. It did, however, have pretty much everything else a typical Buttrey-Osco had, and I remember the outside signage simply read "OSCO" without the word "Drugs" Later, when Skaggs became Osco, and the Buttrey stores all received new signage, this one simply read "Foods" At the time, there was also a Grand Central, later a non-food Fred Meyer (both of which I can't remember if they had pharmacies), as well as a Thrifty Drug store next to Buttrey. Were there many other Buttrey-osco stores without a pharmacy? Every other Buttrey store I remember did have a Pharmacy, both before and after the Osco name was used.
