Porcelaine shopping cart signs

Post by scanman2 »

When I was working for Superior Super Warehouse in Southern CA I ran into a guy servicing the carts at the South El Monte store that repairs shopping carts. This guy told me he was a former worker for Technibilt who used to make shopping carts for almost all of the retailers here in southern CA. He had a collection of the old porcelaine little signs that identified what store the baskets belonged to, if anybody remembers, they were attached to the front of the carts and were usually white porcelaine with the companys color logo on it. I remember seeing many names that at that time had recently disappeared as well as some that are still around and had changed their logos. Does anybody have information on this guy? I am going to contact some other buddies of mine from the grocery industry and see if anybody knows his whereabouts. It think it would be very interesting to have some pictures of his collection posted on this web site.
