Here is a recent photo of the building that once housed the Safeway in Lodi, California that is at the top of the Groceteria.com Message Board. It was a Grocery Outlet for a while and is now a Smart and Final. I remember visiting this Safeway many times as a kid.

The Lodi News-Sentinel newspaper is on Google News Archives now. This $450,000, 21,000-square-foot Safeway opened November 2, 1955 on the site of one of Lodi's first schools, the Salem School. It closed October 14, 1995. Photos showing the pylon sign can be seen in these articles;
