Buy & Save was a grocery store chain that operated in the San Diego area in the late 1950s. The San Diego Union of Thursday, November 12, 1959 contained an advertisement for the chain.

Buy & Save locations listed in the ad were:
(1) San Diego – 54th & University;
(2) Chula Vista – 685 Broadway;
(3) Carlsbad – 2800 Roosevelt;
(4) Valencia Park – Euclid & Churchward;
(5) Escondido – 436 E. Ohio ;
(6) Fallbrook – 640 Main;
(7) El Cajon – Main & Mollison;
(8) Oceanside – 1138 S. Hill;
(9) Vista 306 S. Santa Fe.

The ad touted, “You Get CASH DIVIDEND STAMPS!” The main promotions were pork roast, Fresh Picnic Style, for 29 cents per lb. and lamb roast, square shoulder cut, for 39 cents per lb.

Buy & Save apparently was a major chain in San Diego County. Does anyone know what became of it?

54th & University: Seems rebuilt, but there's a Vien Dong Supermarket there.

685 Broadway: Looks like the original building with pylon. Can' tell what tenant it is, Google Street View for some reason takes you to the back alley.

2800 Roosevelt: Subdivided and remodeled into shops.

Euclid & Churchward: St. Rita's Catholic School (with pylon).

436 E. Ohio: looks like a set of houses there now with a conspicuously adjacent parking lot.

640 Main: Joe's Hardware.

Main & Mollison: Kragen Auto Parts (sorry, O'Reilly Auto Parts). Retains pylon.

1138 S. Hill Oceanside: (NOTE: S. Hill is now S. Coast Hwy) Some shopping center, can't get any better answer there.

306 S. Santa Fe: Gill's Feed Store.
