Drove by this a few weeks ago and I hadn't noticed it before. Anyone know more about this particular location?

From an article found at Newspaperarchive.com;
"A modern new Safeway supermarket will open at 807 27th St. on Monday, June 1 (1964). William (Pete) Baker, a 13-year employee of Safeway Stores, has been named manager of a staff of 24 persons...Employees now at the store at 23rd St. and San Pablo Ave., which will close tomorrow will be transferred to the new Safeway...The new supermarket has 16,000 square feet. It is built of reinforced tilt-up concrete panels, finished with exposed aggregate. A graceful roofline is the dominant feature".

Not sure when it closed, but this location has been a church of one sort or another for over twelve years, or since before I started doing heavy research for this site. The church has gradually removed some of the more Safeway-like elements over the years.
