Santa Cruz Public Library has digitized a "Santa Cruz Sentinel" photo from 1959 of a Lucky supermarket marquee. See:

The photo caption says that the new Lucky supermarket would open on January 6, 1960. It was located at Morrissey Boulevard and Soquel Avenue in Santa Cruz. However, I cannot figure out where that Lucky store was located when examining Google Street View from 2008 to present.
The photo date apparently is December 17, 1959.
The "location list" on this website for Santa Cruz/Monterey Counties, 1925-1980 does not appear to be currently available.

120 Morrissey Blvd. Later a Liquor Barn briefly, then long home to a post office. Became Grocery Outlet recently!
