Taco Time - Inside and Outside Clackamas Town Center?

At least in the SE Portland area, there is one area that is unique for this occurrence: in the unincorporated Clackamas-Happy Valley area, there are not one but two Taco Time restaurants: one is inside the food court of Clackamas Town Center, while the second is outside the mall, sandwiched between the Dairy Queen (north) and the McDonald's (south) on SE 82nd Ave. Both of these (along with the DQ and McD's) would have opened in 1981 with the rest of the mall, or in 1982. Also: this area had two Arby's stores: one inside the CTC food court, and the other as an outparcel at the lower left corner of the Southgate Shopping Center parking lot.

How many other areas can you think of with a big mall, have one of the restaurants in that mall's food court also be an outparcel?

Kelso's Three Rivers mall once had a Dairy Queen in the food court that coexisted with one across from the theaters on the south end of the mall for many years. The food court location closed some time ago, as has most of the food court in that dying mall.

As for Clackamas Town Center, Arby's was not in the food court as of this summer. I know several changes took place as the ice rink was removed, and it seems as if Arby's left around that time. Clackamas at one point also had a Chick-Fil-A in the food court, and could have very well been the only location they ever had in Oregon. This closed long ago.

Walmart also is known for having a McDonald's inside the store, and having one in their parking lot as well. The Longview location on Ocean Beach Highway was like this until it was remodeled last year and now does not have a restaurant inside, unusual for Walmart.

And Vancouver Mall has a Subway inside the mall, as well as in an outparcel on the west end.

Speaking of the outparcel DQ at 12220 SE 82nd Ave., it was involved in an accident at its drive-thru window this past June, and so they had to temporarily shut it down in order to renovate it. The accident, caused by some man sleeping behind the wheel of his Chevy pickup, also involved one inside patron being injured.

EDIT, 11-30-2012: The DQ is now alive and kicking once more.

Oh, there's a lot of this:

Fashion Square in Saginaw got a Taco Bell in the late 80s, duplicating a Taco Bell just down Bay Road. In 1993, the mall got its food court, including a new Taco Bell and a McDonald's, which was also across the street. Taco Bell also moved the Bay Road store to Tittabawassee Road, putting it across from the mall. For a short time, there was also a retro-styled, drive-thru-only McDonald's just down the road. Both the retro one and the mall one closed, leaving only the one across from the mall. Subway also opened in the food court, despite having a location across the street as well — and the off-mall Subway was also a relocation from an existing store.

Payless ShoeSource, Hallmark, and Bath & Body Works also have duplicate stores across from the mall. The standalone Payless used to be a Picway Shoes. GameStop also had duplicate stores, but oddly, it was the mall one (a former Software, Etc.) that closed.

====

Other ones:

Subway in Walmart being close to another Subway is also very common around here. Both East Tawas and West Branch have Walmart-based Subway and another Subway in a Shell station about a block apart from each other. Bay City ups the ante by having a standalone Subway, a Walmart Subway, and the one in Bay City Mall's food court all at the same intersection! (At one point, Fashion Bug had duplicate stores too: one in the mall, and one in the strip next to Walmart.)

Genesee Valley Center has Subway and Taco Bell in both the food court and on outparcels. The same was formerly true of McDonald's, but the food court one closed many years ago. They also have two Starbucks: one in Barnes & Noble and one in Macy's.

Eastland Center in Detroit used to have McDonald's in the (now demolished) food court and on an outparcel.

Escanaba still has a standalone McDonald's in the parking lot of a Walmart that also has a McDonald's. This used to be the case in Cheboygan, Houghton Lake, Houghton, and possibly elsewhere.

In Alpena, McDonald's closed their location in Walmart and replaced it with a standalone in the parking lot. This was also true of several McDonald's locations in Meijer stores across the state. (I don't think there was ever a case of a Meijer-based McDonald's being duplicated in the parking lot.)

Apparently at one point, Battle Creek had a food court McDonald's, a Walmart McDonald's, and a standalone all within a one-mile stretch. It looks like the food court one was the first of the three to close.

Marquette once had Big Boy in Marquette Mall, another across the street, and apparently had a THIRD one in Westwood Mall. (These same two malls also doubled up on Maurices, B. Dalton, Regis, Hallmark, and possibly other stores for several years until Marquette Mall died off. That's a lot of duplication for a town of only about 20,000.)

I seem to recall a time when Dollar Tree and Hallmark had stores both in Grand Traverse Mall and right across from it.
