Plaid Pantry
I seem to remember a brief period during the 1990s where some of the Plaid Pantry stores in Portland took the AM/PM name. This did not last very long, I think only one or two years, then they went back to the Plaid Pantry name. What I am wondering though is if ALL the stores in the chain became AM/PM or if it just affected certain stores in Portland.

Re: Plaid Pantry
I believe that Plaid Pantry was going to be a major franchise of am/pm. They had some stores in the Seattle area. But none of the existing stores were ever converted to the am/pm banner. But there was one "new build" that opened during that period that opened as a am/pm. It was the first and only am/pm without any gas pumps. That is at Georgetown Center at Corson and Michigan in the Georgetown district of Seattle. That location is now a Wells Fargo Bank. Also it should be noted that while Plaid Pantry is still in Seattle (as far as I know), they closed plenty of stores here.
Re: Plaid Pantry
I beg to differ here. I DO remember SOME existing stores in Portland receiving AM/PM signs. These were not the more typical signs AM/PM used, but appeared to be in the existing Plaid Pantry sign frames. I think the change was in name only, as the stores were not remodeled at all to the best of my knowledge. What I don't know though is if it affected Seattle or any towns outside of Portland that had Plaid Pantry stores.marshd1000 wrote:I believe that Plaid Pantry was going to be a major franchise of am/pm. I was only refering to my knowledge of Plaid Pantry in Seattle. Being that Plaid Pantry was from Portland, I would not be surprised that the Portland stores were turned into am/pm.

Re: Plaid Pantry
I saw a Shell/Plaid Pantry somewhere in a suburb of Seattle that had an Arco looking 24 HOURS sign beside the entry. But the store itself was the typical old looking run down garbage that I was used to seeing Plaid Pantry run down in Portland.

Re: Plaid Pantry
I wonder if there were any Plaid Pantries that resembled 7-Eleven stores from day one?
