Baskin-Robbins Architectures (1959-1990)

Post by StoreLiker2006 »

Could anyone here please enlighten me as to the history of Baskin-Robbins' architectural styles owing to the style of architectures as well as the signage?

The old "ragtime/circus 31" logo many of us have remembered was first used in 1959 (according to a post in the link above), and phased out in 1990. It started out being a slight oval shape (at least on some headsigns) in its early years, and by the mid 1970s changed to a perfect-circle logo (with the polka dots and the text "BASKIN-ROBBINS ICE CREAM" removed from the circle) with a pink background and white "31." That was the way the logo appeared (the names "BASKIN" and "ROBBINS" appeared on either side of the "31," or "BASKIN-ROBBINS" below it) on the packaging of the paper cups and ice cream tubs used by B-R, against a brown background with faint horizontal stripes, with the brown and pink polka dots (on a secondary white background) surrounding the top and bottom sides of the brown background, and this motif ran through 1990.

In the years after 1990, B-R began to change out the signs on their stores, removing the pre-1990 logos from almost all their stores.

If anyone can submit any corrections to this thread, please reply.

I miss the way BR's were styled back in the 1970's-80's...........especially the 'Circus 31' signage.
