Retro Kmart signage font

Post by rudyvalencia »

Hello fellow Groceteria readers. Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

I was recently reading some posts here and came across this enlightening post by Andrew T., entitled "Older Kmart interiors (orange and otherwise)". This inspired me to create a font from that style of lettering he discusses in the post.

This font is the result of hours of design and a bit of experimentation, particularly with letters not in the original signage.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

PS: If someone could also suggest a name for this font, it'd be appreciated.

Sounds like a great name for this font. I plan to convert it from this Illustrator drawing to a TrueType font over the weekend.

Savings Place font (original title: Retro Kmart signage font

This is my latest draft of the font - now called Savings Place (thanks to submariner for the suggestion).

I've tightened it up a bit and cleaned up some of the errors I made in a couple letters. In addition, I've included a possible example of usage in this draft.
