The Thursday, November 12, 1959 edition of the San Diego Union contains many advertisements for supermarkets and grocery stores in the San Diego area. I will post information from each one separately.
Mayfair ran a two-page ad. Pork was the main special, "spareribs or smoked picnics," "your choice for only" 29 cents per pound. They also touted that they gave S&H Green Stamps. A slogan in the ad was “GROWING WITH SAN DIEGO.”
spareribs or smoked picnics
These were the Mayfair locations listed in the ad:
(1) "newest" at 58th & University, San Diego
(2) 1260 Garnet St, Pacific Beach
(3) 160 N. Magnolia Ave., El Cajon
(4) 3967 30th St, North Park
(5) 5075 Federal Blvd., San Diego
(6) 1000 E. 10th St., National City
(7) 7663 Broadway, Lemon Grove
(8) 540 Third Ave., Chula Vista
(9) 500 Broadway, Chula Vista
(10) 1186 E Main, El Cajon
(11) 3363 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego
(12) 4340 Moraga, Clair(e)mont
Are any of these Mayfair store buildings still in use today?
